Les Misérables West End Cast Welcomes Jacob Dachtler, Former Student of West End Kids

We are delighted to report that Jacob Dachtler, a graduate of West End Kids, has been chosen to play one of musical theatre’s most celebrated roles. Jacob will take on the part of Marius in the current Sondheim Theatre production of Les Misérables.

A Soaring Star

Jacob’s path from West End Kids to the professional theatre world has been nothing less than extraordinary. After perfecting his craft with us, he trained at the Arts Educational Schools London. Remarkably, already, he’s had significant opportunities, such as creating the role of Jacob Fry in the new musical Babies and playing Adam in MAMMA MIA! The Party, staged at The O2.

The Cultural Impact of Les Misérables

Les Misérables is a cultural force that has captivated audiences for nearly 40 years. It tells a story that is, at its heart, all about the 19th-century French society that Hugo portrayed in such detail. The characters in his story are not only well-drawn but also representative of societal forces that still resonate today. Its impact, then, cannot only be told in the story’s power (its story with a capital “S”), but also in the many ways (and in multiple cultures) in which that story has been told since Hugo first penned it in 1862.

An Impressive Collection of Actors

The stage will be the site of stellar collaborations as the new series of performances features some incredible talent. Ian McIntosh will play Jean Valjean, with the role of Javert being filled by Stewart Clarke. And Katie Hall will be taking on the powerful, haunting role of Fantine. With this collection of actors and far more who remain unseen, the musical hopefully fulfills the promise its new cast introduces.

The success of Jacob as a West End star underscores what is possible when one is trained at West End Kids. The musical theatre world is already full of our alumni who have made names for themselves. Jacob serves as an inspiration to all in our program, showing that those in our program can find themselves leading in the West End.

What’s in store for Jacob?

As Jacob gets ready to portray the earnest revolutionary Marius, we can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride. His take on this multifaceted figure, torn between what he’s duty-bound to do and what he does for love, especially at such a pivotal moment in history, is going to be epic.

We invite everyone in our West End Kids family to stand with Jacob and see the show. Les Misérables remains in production at the Sondheim Theatre, and with this thrilling new cast, now is a fantastic time to either discover or rediscover this enduring masterpiece.

What can be achieved through devotion, talent, and proper training is made brilliantly clear by Jacob’s success. We at West End Kids consider it a privilege to have played a part in his story and count it as one of our inspirations to see his upward trajectory continue in the realm of musical theatre.

Jacob, congratulations! The West End awaits your presence, and we are certain you will represent us and make us proud.
