WEK: Workshops - one‑day elite training intensives (and the official audition route).

For young performers aged 9–18 who are serious about musical theatre and want to train at a professional pace.

Book a place on a one‑day intensive in your city—this is how we meet new performers and consider them for West End Kids’ selective programmes.

This workshop is your audition

A WEK: Workshop is open to book, but it is also the primary audition / entry route into our selective West End Kids programmes.

What that means

  • Your child trains with the WEK team across the full musical theatre skill set

  • We observe technique, coachability and professional habits in a real working room

  • After the workshop, families receive clear next‑step guidance (by invitation where appropriate)

Important: Attending a workshop does not guarantee an offer for a selective programme.

Fit, not status: is WEK: Workshops right for your child?

This workshop is for you if…

  • Your child is actively considering a more serious musical theatre pathway

  • They respond well to structure, repetition, and direct notes

  • They can stay focused in a fast‑moving room and work respectfully as part of a group

  • You want an honest view of what WEK standards feel like – before committing further

This workshop is not for you if…

  • You want a relaxed holiday activity with light expectations

  • Your child dislikes correction, repetition, or being coached in detail

  • You are looking mainly for a weekly social club experience

  • Reliable punctuality and professionalism are likely to be a challenge

What Happens On The Day

This is an intensive day designed to reflect how we work: clear instruction, repeat practice, and direct feedback.

Expect:

  • Vocal and performance warm‑up
  • Musical theatre singing: technique, clarity, storytelling
  • Dance/movement: precision, musicality, performance quality
  • Performance craft: confidence, presence, direction notes
  • Ensemble work: focus, listening, and rehearsal discipline

No pre‑learning is required. The expectation is professional effort, not perfection.

What We Look For

WEK is selective by design. We assess more than raw talent.

We pay attention to:

  • Coachability: how quickly a performer applies notes

  • Musicality and rhythm: accuracy, timing, listening

  • Technique foundations: healthy vocal habits and safe physical approach

  • Focus and professionalism: concentration, respect, conduct in the room

  • Consistency under pressure: staying calm and responsive at pace

What Happens After The Workshop

Workshops are the starting point. Following the day, we will advise on the most appropriate next step.

Possible outcomes include:

  • Invitation to the next stage for a selective programme (where appropriate)

  • Recommendation to develop further through a specific pathway (e.g., monthly training, vocal development, or a future intensive)

  • Clear guidance on readiness and what to work on next

We aim to be direct and respectful. Fit matters – for the student and the training environment.
