How West End Kids Works
A professional rehearsal and performance system for young performers.
West End Kids is a professional rehearsal and performance system, built around how productions are developed and rehearsed in the industry.
This is not a weekly stage school or class-based programme – it is structured around rehearsal blocks, performance preparation and progression towards performance.
The programme is built around:
- rehearsal blocks
- season structure
- performance outcomes
This reflects how professional productions are developed – focused rehearsal periods leading into performance.
The Structure
The year is divided into three seasons:
- Winter – January to April
- Spring / Summer – April to August
- Autumn – September to December
Each season includes:
- 8 rehearsal days
- delivered across 2-3 days rehearsal blocks and key rehearsal days
- scheduled across the year, including school holidays and selected weekends
This structure allows rehearsal time to be focused and structured, with each block building towards performance. Rehearsal days run 11:00am to 6:00pm
This allows:
- focused, high-quality rehearsal time
- clear preparation for performance
- manageable scheduling for families
West End Kids follows a clear progression pathway.
Each stage builds towards performance at the highest level.
Entry
Most performers begin with a West End Kids Workshop.
This is the first step into the West End Kids system, where students experience the rehearsal process and are assessed for progression.
- take part in training
- work directly with the WEK team
- are assessed for suitability
Following this, students may be invited to:
- WEK: Training / West End Kids Troupe
- Summer Intensive
- Associates
- WEK: Online
- WEK: Vocal Studio
WEK: Training
WEK: Training is the pathway into the West End Kids Troupe.
Students:
- attend rehearsal blocks across the season
- development of performance, vocal and rehearsal skills
- preparation for progression into the Troupe
At the end of each block:
- progress is assessed
- development is reviewed
Each season concludes with a formal end-of-season performance
West End Kids Troupe
The West End Kids Troupe is the highest level of the programme.
Troupe members:
- rehearse in focused blocks
- prepare for performance
- perform at major events and venues
Work is structured around performance readiness and delivery.
