Logan Petterson-Cooper – West End Kids Troupe

Journey with West End Kids

Where are you from? I’m from Kings Lynn in Norfolk.

When did you join West End Kids? I joined West End Kids in April 2023

What inspired you to audition for West End Kids? I was looking for higher levels of training and my sister sent me a social media post from west end kids and I was immediately interested and knew I had to try.

Performance Highlights

What has been your favourite performance so far and why? Ideal home Show at Christmas, it was my first performance. It was an incredible experience performing with the amazingly talented group and I absolutely loved it!

Can you share a memorable moment from one of your performances? Great Ormond Street, the incredible feeling of performing at this amazing event for everyone and making them so happy at Christmas time.

Training and Dedication

How many hours a week do you spend rehearsing and training? I spend at least 2-3 hours a day working on West End Kids material ranging from practising my harmonies to running all the dances.

What do you find most challenging and rewarding about your training? I definitely find the commitment to rehearsing from home challenging, having to consistently rehearse material to check I’m certain of everything I’m doing, but it is absolutely worth it. Seeing the final product when it has all come together, also seeing my progression showing hard work pays off when you have commitment to something.

Future Aspirations

What are your future goals in the performing arts? I would love to be in the west end taking challenging roles, it has always been a goal of mine and would be a dream come true.

Which role or production would you love to be a part of? I would love to be a part of the Phantom of the Opera, Shrek and the Book of Mormon

Personal Interests

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of performing? I love to play rugby, it is a very opposite thing to performing on a stage but I really enjoy it. I also play percussion and timpani in West Norfolk Wind Orchestra and Springwood’s Concert Band.

What is a fun fact about you that not many people know? I was originally a dancer, starting dance classes from a young age. But I focussed on singing a lot more in recent years and that has become my main focus. Although I do still enjoy dancing very much and hope to improve that alongside my singing.

Inspirations and Motivation

Who inspires you the most in the performing arts world? Ramin Karimloo, Jeremy Jordan, David Thaxton (who is actually from my home town who was a part of the same amateur drama group I am apart of currently and went to the same high school as I attended, and he is now transferring Sunset Boulevard to Broadway playing the role of max as he did in the west end)

What keeps you motivated to keep improving and performing? My goal, my dream to be on the west end keeps my motivation to constantly want to improve and perform.

Experience with West End Kids

How has being a part of West End Kids impacted you? Since joining West End Kids I have noticed a bigger improvement than I have all of my life, it has also taught me so many valuable lessons that I will keep with me forever.

What advice would you give to new members or those aspiring to join West End Kids? Do it, and don’t give up when it gets hard. Joining West End Kids will be an incredible decision for you the experience, opportunity’s and improvements you gain from being apart of WEK. Other groups don’t compare to the training of you get here. Things will be tough at times, but once you’re out of those tough times you really see the improvement. Good luck to everyone hoping to audition or who have already joined, don’t give up your dream.

This interview with Logan Petterson-Cooper took place on Monday 8th July 2024.
