Imogen Cooper – West End Kids Troupe

Where are you from?

Hello Im Imogen and I am from Louth in East Lincolnshire.

How did you first hear about West End Kids?

I first heard about West End Kids when I was 4 years old and I saw them Perform an Annie set at the South Bank Centre and I apparently said to my Mum I want to do that when Im older.

How did you come to audition or join?

I applied to audition as soon as I turned 9 back in 2022 I was originally offered a place on their Yellow team but decided to accept their associate offer originally. I was lucky enough to be offered a place in their supporting cast earlier this year which gave me the opportunity to trail for Troupe after easter this year.

What made you want to be part of it?

I saw their Instagram posts during lock down and I thought that’s what I want to do.

What has been your favourite performance moment so far, and why?

My favourite performance with West End Kids has been this years easter review as it felt like my first proper experience performing as part of the Company.

What are you most looking forward to performing with the Troupe?

I am most looking forward to performing at CarFest because last time West End Kids got to perform to 40,000 people

How many hours a week do you spend rehearsing or training?

A side from West End Kids I do about 12 hours of dance classes and an hour singing class a week and at least an hour of West End Kids practice a day.

What do you find most challenging – and most rewarding – about your training?

I find learning Harmonies the most challenging because it takes my brain so long to correct and perfect them, but once I crack them it is very rewarding.

What are your ambitions in the performing arts?

I really want to improve on my audition technique and harmony work, to enable me to be a strong ensemble member within the west end one day.

Is there a specific role, production, or career path you’re working towards?

One day I really want to be either an ensemble member in a musical, a choreographer or a backing dancer for a musician as I just love to dance.

Do you have any other hobbies or interests outside of WEK?

In my spare time I love to dance street, Tap and ballet being my favourites. I also love to make up my own choreography and learning how to do different hair styles and make up looks.

Is there something about you that people might not know?

I actually have two things. I am actually pretty smart and are in top set for the majority of my subjects. I also did Cheer for 6 years of my life and way captain of my team for 3.
