Audrey Scarfe – West End Kids Troupe

Where are you from?

I am from a small town in North East Essex called Harwich.

When did you join West End Kids?

I joined West End Kids in winter term 2021, I was in WEK Training Red, for four terms, WEK Training Yellow for three and then WEK Training, purple for three.

What inspired you to audition for West End Kids?

I auditioned for West End Kids after my mum’s friend saw me performing and told me I had to audition.

Performance Highlights:

What has been your favourite performance so far and why?

At the moment, my favourite performance I’ve done at WEK is the Summer 2022 Revue as the numbers I did are some of my favourite WEK numbers!

Can you share a memorable moment from one of your performances?

A memorable moment from a WEK performance is the winter 2024 review, as I got to perform my first solo with West End Kids.

Training and Dedication:

How many hours a week do you spend rehearsing and training?

I spend at least 8-10 hours a week rehearsing dances, and around 3-4 hours learning my harmonies.

What do you find most challenging and rewarding about your training?

The most challenging part for me is keeping up my stamina and also working on my flexibility every day, yet the progress I see weekly is definitely rewarding and worth the hard work!

Future Aspirations:

What are your future goals in the performing arts?

Currently, my goals within performing arts are to really develop my singing abilities and to also to work hard at my flexibility, as it is something that has never come easily to me.

Which role or production would you love to be a part of?

My dream production to be a part of is something like Oliver, Annie or Mary Poppins.

Personal Interests:

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of performing?

Outside of performing, I have always enjoyed art, and I am currently working towards my art GCSE.

What is a fun fact about you that not many people know?

Something many people might not know about me is that I played the piano for 7 years, from ages 5 to 12.

Motivation:

Who inspires you the most in the performing arts world?

During my West End Kids training, I have always been inspired by the troupe members, from watching them at the reviews, but I have also always been inspired by the singing of Julie Andrews.

Experience with West End Kids:

How has being a part of West End Kids impacted you?

Being a part of West End Kids has not only transformed my performing skills, but has also given me a work ethic that I will carry throughout my entire life, in and out of the performing world.

What advice would you give to new members or those aspiring to join West End Kids?

The biggest advice I have for new members of West End Kids is to never give up, and to also remember that everything comes in time, not overnight.
