The performing arts were alive and well at Move IT 2023!
The largest exhibition in the UK dedicated to dance and performance, the 2023 event at London’s Excel nonetheless showcased a variety of performing arts in its diverse programming and array of exhibitors. If a single performance could be called a highlight of the event, it might just be “West End Kids,” (of course, we are very biased!) who electrified the audience with their stage presence and impeccable talent. Consistently a main stage highlight of Move IT, West End Kids can fairly be called a prime example of the electric stage presence and talent that characterises the best of the youth performing arts in the UK.
The performance that was themed around Beetlejuice could only be described as astounding. It had more than enough high-energy choreography to keep the audience held rapt, and it certainly brought back the thrills of the original Beetlejuice film.
Taking on the challenge of such a textbook example of a dynamic musical and **rising to it** speaks not only to the skills of these performers but also to their deep understanding of character and stagecraft.
For parents who dream of seeing their children as young stars in the performing arts, the opportunity presented by West End Kids is nigh-on unparalleled. Its “cause” is not just to train kids to perform in the West End but also to cover the bases necessary for achieving success anywhere in the performing arts.
